Gibraltar DFAS end of season lecture on some of the biggest names in 20th Century art

The final lecture of the season presented a personal profile of giant figures in 20th century art. Picasso, Man Ray and Max Ernst were three of the key artists of the 20th century; they were also close friends of the Surrealist photographer Lee Miller and the Surrealist artist Roland Penrose. The hidden part of the story of a unique friendship which spanned the Surrealist Movement and the last 30 years of Picasso’s life.

De la Frontera DFAS announce the winners of their 2013 Young Arts competition

This year's Young Artists' Competition reached its grand finale on the evening of Friday 15th March and what a competition it proved to be. The standard was so high that we gave out 3 prizes instead of 2 when the Members' Vote ended in a dead heat. We are extremely grateful to the sponsor of the Members' Prize - our friends at The Sovereign Group - for contributing another 150€ so that the prize didn't have to be shared.

Benahavis DFAS celebrates its first season

We are coming to the end of our first season and what a wonderful season we have had. We still have several events to look forward to and we particularly want to invite our Members to join us for coffee on May 2nd and help us plan our next season. We have also booked the delightful El Campanario Golf and Country Club for our end of season dinner and dance on Friday 31st May.

The Hague DFAS enjoy a visit to Dutch 'Silver Town', Shoonhoven

On Saturday, 23 March, members of The Hague DFAS enjoyed a visit to the town of Schoonhoven it famous for its high-quality, artistic silver. The morning was spent at the museum with a guided tour which took in in both historic and contemporary silver. After lunch members were able to enjoy the beauty of Shoonhoven through a guided walk with a visit to some of the many silversmith studios.

The Hague DFAS enjoy a visit to Hoogsteder & Hoogsteder art dealers

Hoogsteder & Hoogsteder are art dealers in Dutch and Flemish old masters. The paintings are housed in a splendid 17th century building in The Hague along with a beautiful collection of period furniture.

On Thursday 21st February 2013 twenty-one DFAS members and friends were able to visit this wonderful house and were shown around by Mr Hoogsteder himself. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
