BRIDFAS of Hamburg Netherlands / Barbara Hepworth weekend
On 9/10 April 21 members of BRIDFAS of Hamburg travelled to The Netherlands, primarily to see the Barbara Hepworth exhibition at the famous Kroeller-Mueller Museum in Otterlo. This was followed by a lecture from a Dutch Art Historian - Michel Didier – on Helene Kroeller-Mueller and the wonderful art/sculpture collection. The Kroeller-Muellers collected around 11,500 pieces of art during their lifetime, which was left to the Dutch State, who subsequently built the Kroeller-Mueller Museum to house the collection.
On Sunday, the group started their day in Het Loo Paleis in Apeldoorn, former home of the Dutch Royal Family, followed by tours in English and German of the interior of the fabulous Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, the Hunting Lodge that the Kroeller-Muellers had built in the early 1900s, with no expense spared.
